Daniel Etherington CFP®
About Me
Daniel has been in the Financial Service Industry for over 35 years & a Certified Financial Planner since 2001.
Daniel is a family man with both a loving wife and four daughters.
He insists in giving a balance to his life & enjoys participating in his daughters’ educational and dancing pursuits.
Daniel took the time in 2009 to train for the Kokoda Trek and wished to endure the hardships that some of our Australian Diggers had to suffer for this great country of ours. It was gruelling but a mental satisfaction of ensuring that both he and his family do not take this country for granted.
He has been in a number of voluntary community positions with the W.A. Variety Bashers club (Secretary), Bayswater Family Centre (Treasurer), Chair on the School Board for his daughters’ Primary school (6 years), on the School Board for their High School (6 years) & regular assistance with the Red Cross door knock appeal and his local Parish.
Via his wife’s late “Nonno’s” 1968 XT Falcon, he has also contributed to the W.A Variety Club Annual Bash over 4 years, with the car & crew raising over $50,000 for the children’s charity.
He has completed 2 80k Ultra Marathon’s, 3 50k Ultra Marathon’s, 19 Marathons among these, the Boston Marathon in 2013, where he finished 29 minutes before the bombs went off, Tokyo in 2015, his third World Major in London in April 2016, the Big 5 Marathon in Johannesburg and Singapore in 2017/2019, his fourth World Major in Chicago in October 2018 and ran Boston again in April 2019 and his fifth World Major in New York in November 2022 and Berlin in September 2023.
Currently just underwent arthroscopic surgery on his knee and in the gym staying fit until he can run again.
He has also done a number of half marathons including two in San Francisco in 2012 whilst attending Stanford University for an Executive leadership course, which that itself was like a Marathon.
He entered the 2014 100km Oxfam Trail Walk and raised $2,500 but treated more like a race and only made 81kms albeit in 19 hours. He entered again in 2015 and completed in 32 hours and 18 minutes.
He competed in the Mandurah Half Iron Man in November 2014 and this was brutal in the heat and competed as a team in 2015 (run) coming 3rd out of 43 mixed teams.
He loves the aspect of goal setting and mental preparedness for these physical events and finds the similarity of planning / goalsetting and risk management carries into his focus with his clients when helping them set goals and achieve their life’s dreams and aspirations.
